Five great family vacation destinations

…to embrace as soon as it is safe to do so!

Planning a family vacation is a delight, but it is not always the simplest of tasks. Finding the right destination is key – somewhere that has something to offer the whole family, with attractions and experiences to suit all ages, and somewhere that is kid-friendly as well. To give you a hand in your search for the perfect family vacation destination, here is a list of five of the best spots to visit with kids, whether you are looking for an awesome summer break or a winter wonderland. Take a look, and start planning your next family vacation right away!

Manchester Grand Hyatt

San Diego, California

The sunny shores of California are perfect for a fun family summer vacation, and San Diego is one of the best spots in the Golden State for kids. This gorgeous beach city has some of the best stretches of sand in the country right on its doorstep, and downtown is full of awesome kid-friendly attractions too! Balboa Park is beautiful and full of museums that will appeal to the whole family, while places like San Diego Zoo and the nearby Legoland California will keep everyone entertained all day long.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Affectionately known as ‘Kidsburgh’, Pittsburgh is one of the most family-friendly cities in the entire United States. The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is a treat for the little ones, while Pittsburgh Zoo offers wild adventures for the whole family. If you come in the summer the 10-day Grand Prix is a thrill ride, with vintage races and a car show the highlight of the festival. A fall vacation offers excellent hiking and mountain biking along the Great Allegheny Passage, a 150-mile trail that runs all the way from Pittsburgh to Washington DC!

Daintree, Australia

The Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland, Australia, is a stunningly beautiful spot full of natural wonders, and an amazing destination for adventurous families. The oldest rainforest in the world (with plenty of zip-lines for the adrenaline fans of the family) offers wild crocodile boat tours and some simply outstanding beaches. Off the coast, the Great Barrier Reef is unrivaled when it comes to snorkeling and scuba diving.

Rovaniemi, Finland

For an unforgettable, unique experience for the kids, take them to where Santa lives! Just north of Helsinki, Rovaniemi is the official address for Santa Claus, and where all the letters from kids around the world end up. Check out the pigeon-holes filled with letters to Santa, then spend the evening with his elves decorating trees and baking cookies. Husky and reindeer sled rides and the stunning forested landscape ensure a wonderful experience for parents too.

St Lucia, Caribbean

If the idea of turquoise waters, golden beaches, and a tropical paradise island appeals, then why not head off for a Caribbean beach getaway on the island of St Lucia. This Caribbean island has the world’s only ‘drive-in’ volcano, as well as natural volcanic hot springs and mud baths, calm, shallow bays perfect for younger children, and the iconic Lover’s Rock from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies!
